Per Press Association. Chrislchureh, May 20. Hans Busch, the owner of the traction engine with which Mr. H. A. 0. lergusson, of lialswell, collided, with fatal results on the. night of May 8 was today lined £5 for leaving the engine standing on the road at night. \\m. Powers, a prisoner who was undergoing a sentence of five years' imprisonment at Ilnnvner, and who escaped from the prison camp on Monday week last, was I committed for trial to-day.
AX UNUSUAL POSITION. l'er Press Association. Auckland, May 29. Followin" on Mr. Justice Dcnniston's remarks yesterday that the Supreme Court should take precedence of all other business a rather unusual position arose this morning in the police court, when two youths named Robert Pratt and Ht.liell.ert C. Rao were charged with settin" oil fireworks in Market Square. Mr. RhJrplcs. solicitor for the defendants, pleaded not guilty. When called, the witnesses for the prosecution did not appear, and the constable in charge of the case was in attendance at the Criminal Session of the Supreme Court, Mr. feliarplcs promptly asked for and secured the dismissal of the charges.
