THE GOVERNMENT STATEMENT. SIR A. MeDONNELL DESIRES TO RETIRE. Received 28th, 10.55 p.m. London, Hay 28. Sir 11. Canipbell-Bannerman has postponed until next Monday the statement of the Government's intentions respecting the Irish Council and other important Bills. It is reported tluit Sir Anthonv McDonnell desires to retire, and the Government is trying to persuade him to remain in office.
