• SOME LIGHT OX THE TRAGEDY. Hobart, ll'iv 28. In connection with the Crumpe murder it is significant that some time ago enquiries were made at the Regjstrv Oflice in the name of J. Langford, from Auckland, with regard to the marriaae of Moriartv.

Beeian, M.L.C., who was personally acquainted with John Langford Crumpe, chargeu with murder at Southsea, says accused was a nephew of the late Dr. Crumpe, an eminent burgeon, and was eccentric in his habits. John Crunipe married here i widow lady of very good famiy, w'lo bad arrived from Home. She. had a number of children by her first husband. Two sons were born to Crumpe. One of these is still living. Crumpe mentioned to Mr Beellan that Mrs Moriariy was certain to provide in her will for this son. Crumpe disregarded the terms of the will and went Home 'eveialtimes to try and upset it, but invariably failed to get a li'wyer to take up the case, ind was therefore iinsuccc-sfiil in his designs. He was a good-hearted man, but. of violent temper if put out, and was ta ily upset.
