Lord Denbigh raised the question by asking if the Government "approved the policy of establishing in Ireland a freely elected Parliament ami an Executive re sponsible to it; and if so, whether any legislation dealing with the Government of Ireland which might luv introduced this session was to be regarded at leading to that end?"
A eul-and-dricd reply came from Lord Crewe.
The best phrase in his speech was the following declaration about the forthcoining Bill: "It is not Koine linle, but an advance in the direction of self-Government, which is not incomputable with an advance towards Home Rule.
"N'o mandate for Home Rule is given by the people of this country," declared Lord Londonderry, formerly Vicerov of Ireland.
