A largely -attended meeting of citizens ' almost unanimously decided to protest against the actiou of the City Council in discharging tlie City .Surveyor, while refusing him an inquiry. The meeting declared that such proceedurc is subversive of all principles of right and .justice and demanded revision of the resolution of the Council in order to grant an inquiry before an impartial tribunal of any charges brought against the ollicial.
