INCITING AGAINST THE BRITISH. VILLAGES WILDLY EXCITED. Calcutta, Hay The Manijiur State. Nortli India, which had been under the direct control of the Indian Government since the massacre of British officials in 1891, lias now been transferred to a native ruler. Seditious emissaries are circulating reports throughout the Punjab that the Government poisoned the wells, causing plague. Wild excitement prevails in the villages near Lahore. Two emissaries have been sentenced to eighteen and twentj'-four mon.iis' imprisonment respectively.
