A VISITOR'S COMPLAINT.

To the Editor. Sir, —As u passenger liy Tuesday | night's mail train, allow me to express my surprise and disgust on arrival at New Plymouth to find all the hairdressers' and tobaeonists' shops elosed and in a state of darkness. Put yourself in my place, Sir, and say how you would like a long and dirty journey from Wellington, looking forward to a comfortahle shave and shampoo (in addition to heing in a tobaceoless condition), and find every avenue of comfort in the tonsoriil line closed. Such was my fate on Tuesday night. New Plymouth has long home a mime for slowness. Why not turn over a new leaf, and enable a tired traveller to have his mundane comforts attended to on arrival of the mail .train?—! am, etc. J.W.W.
