The Hon. Lancelot Walker M.L.C., died at his residence, Four Peaks Station, near Geraidine, on Sunday. Deorasi'd had been ailing for the past year, and on that account was not in his place in Parliament last session. Deceased, who was aged 78, arrived in Canterbury from England in 1850, and sat in the House of Representatives for Akiiroa and Ashley, and in 1885 was called to the Council. It will be learned with extreme regret throughout the colony that the ActingPremier, the Hon. YV. Hall Jones, is very seriously indisposed. The. Hon. gentleman is suffering from a somewhat similar heart affection to that which claimed the Kt. Hon. Mr Sedilon. Mr Hall-Jones' trying duties of the past year, and his strenuous application to his Departmental tvork, have greatly aggravated the affection, which only ali-.-olute rest from all public work may allay, and ii is somewhat doubtful whether the Acting-Premier will again assume active work. The wish is universal that the present rest may restore the Hon. gentleman lo his- accustomed health.
