MATERNITY HOME.

Per Press Association. Dunedin, Mny 20. The Maternity Home was opened by the Mayor this afternoon. Visitors were shown over the building by Dr. Batchelor and Nurses Muirsou and Hay. The latter succeeds the former in charge of the home at the end of the week, The Mayor congratulated the management on the modernity and excellence of the equipment, and comfort of the institution, due to the efTorts of Dr. Batchelor. Dr. Batchelor emphasised the necessity for medical students attending maternity ~* cases for practical experience, and Bat(t4A flic lafe Mr. Seddon supported the more- / m»nt, and hoped there would be friendly rivalry between iho Maternity Home ' mid St. Helen's Lying-in-Hospital, as the two institutions were for entirely different classes of patients.
