SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.
The Board of Commissioners met at the secretary's oJlicc on Friday, Mr. J. Wade presiding. GEXEIUL. The committee {the chairman and Mr Faull) appointed to inspect and report upon section 150, lluia district, leased and occupied by Mr. O'Connor, submitted their report, and recommended that the Board's ranger should again be requested to make a point of seeing lessees when visiting their holdings.
It was resolved, on the motion of Mr. Jennings, seconded by Mr. Simpson, that the committee's report be adopted, and the rauger be written to aeordingly. LEGAL. The Board's (solicitor forwarded considered opinions 011 two points submitted to luin, viz. (1) as to liability for keeping roadways clear to middle line; (2) as to liability for performance of contracts of leases by lessees who have acquired their leases by transfer. The solicitor also reported on James Thomas Walsh's application for a new lease of section 5, block 7, Xgaire S.D., of which his present lease terminates on September 30 next. On the motion of Messrs. Jennings and Major, it was resolved—''That Mr. G. A. Marchant be Appointed the sole arbitrator for the purpose of ascertaining and iixing what arc the substantial ! improvements of a permanent character, and what would be a fair ground rent for the same if without such improvemets, for a term of 21 years from October 1, 1907, with rights of perpetual renewals as provided in the leases now 111 use by the Board. DEVIATION 01- WAITEW[IEBA ItOAB. The Assistant Koad Engineer, Te Kuiti, wrote with reference to a proposed deviation of the Waitcwhera Bond through section 15, block *2, Ohura S.D.
On the motiou of the chairman, seconded by Mr. Eaull, it was decided to carry out the agreement with the Commissioners and the Council with respect to Cuttield lload. The Commissioners considered the ranger's report dealing with a large number of reserves, in committee.-and on resuming it was resolved, on the motion of .Messrs. .Major and Jennings, that the reports be adopted, and that the secretary communicate with the lessees where necessary. TBEASCKKU'S UEPOJiT. The treasurer reported a balance of ;C!)<")!) Us (id, and also that he proposed to apply a fixed deposit of £211) 5s sd, maturing on the 22nd inst., in adjustment of th£ balances of the several funds.
