Telegraphic communication with Wellington ami the South Island was considerably interrupted on Saturday. the southerly g.ile causing damagi to tin' lines. During the whole of the morning and early afternoon only one wive could be used for work between Auckland,and Wellington, with the result, that ordinary messages were delayed between four and live hours. The fault was reported to lie between Takapau and Dannevirkc. All local wires have been working well, and communication was good as far as Napier.
