FROZEN MEAT.

London May 10. Sir W. Lyno visited Smithfield and compared the various classes of frozen mutton. He noticed that New Zealand meat appeared fresher and of better color than the Australian and intends to Institute enquiries on his return, A REPLY. Received 18th, 12.23 a.ni. Adelaide, May 17. In reference to Sir W. Lyne's remarks regarding the frozen mutton, Mr. Ralph, an exported of Australian produce, says Sir W. Lyiio may have been comparing New Zealand mutton just imported with Australian that had been kejjt a long time in cold stores. Another aspect was that only an expert could pretend to compare different classes of mutton, and he was not aware that Sir W. Lyne had an extensive knowledge of the Bubject. If Sir W. Lyne's remarks applied to lambs, then the matter was of great importance to South Australia. New Zealand lambs, as those of other countries, looked much fresher on arrival than when kept for a period in cold store. He concludes that our lamb raisers need not be perturbed by the cable, as they are quite able to hold their own on the London market.
