A MAGISTRATE ASSAULTED.

Per Press Association. Napier, May 17. Thos. Peddle, a settler, was before the Court to-day charged with assaulting Mr. Cutten, S.M. The latter, with a number of constables, went up to defendant's station to execute an order of ejectment following on a lawsuit which Peddle lost, and it was alleged that he was struck by Peddle in the face. Peddle was remanded.
