ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Per Press Association. Napier, May l.">. An inquest was held at the hospital to-day on the body of a man named Charles Henry Jones, who died there suddenly yesterday. He had been driven in from' the country, where he had been working. The post mortem revealed symptoms of arsenical poisoning, and the inquest was adjourned to the llltn July (sic) to allow the contents of tinstomach to be analysed, and to make enquiries as to the purchase, by the deceased, of some rough or rats, a box containing a few grains of this having | been found in his whare. Deceased was j a young man, about 19 or 20 years of age. Wellington, May 15. Alex. Brickley, who was injured while shipping mail hampers aboard the Mara roa on Monday evening, died this afternoon. At an enquiry to-day concerning the death of a man who expired suddenly in a timber yard yesterday, the jury found that death was due to heart disease. They expressed the opinion that deceased's name wan rightly Albert IHlier, and that he had been imperfectly identified as a man who was at times known as William Kennan. The inquest was continued this afternoon touching the death of the lad Trevor Small, the victim of explosion at the gas company's works on Saturday last. Professor Easterfield, of Victoria College, gave evidence that in his opinion the explosion which took place in the well was due to benzine, some of which was in an open tin. The I'littom of this tin had been blown off. the jury late to-night found that the boy s death was accidental. They considered that the lamp used was not safe, and that greater care should have been used to prevent access to inflammable oils.
