A fearful- awl wonderful mess lias been imulc of the football fixtures for the season, and tile committee of tin: Jiugby Union, or whoever is responsible for tho arrangements, will, it is to bo hoped, take mi early opportunity of explaining their reasons therefore. To-day both the New Plymouth senior teams have to travel, and consequently when the second fixture of the second round comes along there will be two senior matches in town on the same day. Two ''gates" are thus absolutely lost to the town dubs thror ;li the signal mismanagement of the Union. That is not all. Some time ago a prominent member of the Kugby Union notified the town dub; that they would have each to provide two grounds to permit of the increased number of nnitclies, due to the admission of three Elthani teams to the Northern district, being played at hours suitable to the train arrangements. Simi lar arrangements had, it was stated, been made by all the other clubs in the division, excepting Inglewood. According to the official fixture the Star A (second juniors) meet Stratford to-day on the latter's ground at 3 o'clock, yesterday, after all arrangements for the team's travelling had been made and the members notified, a wire was received from Mr. Buchanan (chairman of the Uoiouj notifying the Star Club that the match would have to be played at Stratford at 1.30, as there was only one ground avail able. Very properly the Star Club dedined to agrc with the "instructions,'' and wived, declining to forfeit and intimating that the team would take the field at the hour feed. The Star seniors wiJpSto-day be represented by: Nutts, Pike, McLean, Pluck, Smith, Thompson, Courtenay, Pycvoft, Allen, Brown, Bellringer, Ambury, Uoskin, Orr, lieanlon.
The selectors of the .North IslanU football representatives fire: Messrs A. L. Humphries (Taranaki), 11. Kelly (Wellington) and D. Cbillrtglicr (Auckland). We congratulate Mr Humphries on this tribute to his football experience. Per Press Association. Auckland, May 15. At a meeting of the committee of (he. Auckland Riijjliy Union, held last evening, tile following resolution was passcd'l—'Tlic Auckland Rugby Union view:; with alarm and indignation the suggestion of a (our of a professional rugby football team to England, and trusts the local football authorities will use every endeavor to discountenance such a tour, as being inimical to the best interests of football in this colony..
