RUAPEHU AND NGARUHOE.
Per Press Association. Wellington, May 13. Cowan and McDonald,'of the Tourist Department, who were recently despatched to report on the thermal activity in the region of Ngaruhoe and Rua pehu, report: "We have been here since Wednesday, the weather being wet and stormy, wailing for a clear day. AAV have heard occasional booming' reports from Ngaruhoe crater, which is about five miles north-west from our hut, but the mountain is enveloped iu a fog. We will lirsl ascend Ngaruhoe, and then try Uuapehu.'' Mr. Cowan is to report upon the condition of affairs at the mountains, and Mr. McDouald will take photographs for his Department.
