A meeting of the Farmers' Union was held at Oakum on Monday last, the (itli inst. Mr Ci.'W. Warelmm being in the chair. The following - officers were elected for the ensuing year: Chairman, Mr (!. Y\ r . Wareluuu; vice-elisiii--liian, Mr F. .T. -Morris; auditor, Captain Mace; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. K. Meredith; 'committee, Messrs W. Iloneylield, W. Morris, F. W. Mace, 11. Mr AY. Uoneyfiehl submitted the l«I----ance sheet for the year ending 31st -March. 1!!07. which showed a credit balance of .CI lis Id. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by .Mr F. .1. Morris, the balance sheet was adopted. It was decided lo take a copy of the Farmers' Union Advocate for the branch. The order-paper to be submitted to the conference wan tlieu discussed, and Air F. •!. .Morris was appointed to represent. the branch at Now Plymouth on the l."ilh of this month. On the motion if the chairman, seconded by .Mr W. Iloneylield. the following resolution was

Honeyfielrt. chairman of the Board, presided. Tile balance sheet for the year was read and diseuss'ed, and on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr 0. Oxenham. was passed. On the motion of Mr Carpenter, the new board was requested to iakc action with a view of stopping heavy or extraordinary traf!ia 011 the IVtone road and in the district generally. Mr. .1. .Jury complained about gorse. trimmings being left in the water-tables, which stopped the proper ilow of the water. The chairman stated that the matter could be dealt with under the Public Works Act.

Mr. Iloneylield moved, and Mr. liodson seconded, a vote of thanks to .Mr. K. Meredith for the manner in which he had conducted ihe busiuess in connection with the Pitone road contract. This wa< carried by acclamation. Several matters in connection with the district were discussed and the meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the chair.
