DAIRY FACTORY LABOUR.

To the Kditor

Sir, —Being an employee in one of the largest and up-to-daie dairy factories in the North island, and having had a practical experience in this particular industry,! would like to give your readers a clear understanding that the dairy Factory Employees' Union has not been formed for the purpose of demanding an exorbitant wage, such as double pay on Sundays and all public holidays, work six days per week instead of seven, and pay and a half for all overtime, of which they are to a certain extent justly entitled. Some correspondent have stated that the Union is going to kill the dairy industry of this colony and that many of the factories and creameries will have to be abandoned. This is all imagination, as the scale of wages which has been drawn up by the Union to put before the employers' committee at ail early date, are of a most .satisfactory nature. The Union's committee, which consists of practical men selected by the. Union, have prepared a scale of wages 1o suit both employer and employee, and deserve great credit for the scale of wage which they demand.—l am, etc.,
