-Ur Sanderson, of the Winyrovc road, lias sold his property, una has re-bought oil the i'raser road. The installation of .Mayor and councillors took place this morning, with the usual formula and speechifying. T.ie retiring Mayor (Mr IN. ,). King) presented a portrait to the old council.
The many friends ol Ur J. Hayes will be pleased to leam that he returned to Stratford from the New Plymouth Hospital much improved in health. The Stratford Hospital will soon be jit for receiving patients. The building trade &eems to be freshening up in this town.
The milk supply is rapidly diminish* ing, and soon tue rattle of the milk cart will be missing for a silo it while. The signalling and inter-locking system is now being installed at the station yards, and the hitherto dangerous method of working the points will be done away with. There have been two fatal accidents through the old style, and now pretty well every element of danger will be removed, and Stratford will lieeoine an up-to-date and first-class station. 3/6/07.
RAHOTU
The electoral campaign was opened here on Thursday night, when Mr Ukey, the Opposition candiuate, delivered an address. The Rahotu hall was packed with as ympailieie audience, who accorded Mr Okey a very attentive hearing. Mr W. R. Wright occupied the'chair and briefly introduced the candidate. Mr Okey, who gave an ajble address, referre to the Rahotu post office. He said the Government should build a post oflice on the site sec apart for that purpose. He referred to the drawback that it was Rahotu hitring a portion of the townshp built on native leatc, and tiiough there had been deputations On the matter, nothing had been done, it he were returned lie would consider it his duty as their member to have something done for the finality of the native lease question. He was' in favor of the local option poll remaining as it is. He would have liked this election to have been a straight-out issue, Leasehold v. Freehold. He was in favor of the freehold. A number of questions were satisfatorily answered. Mr Okey stating he was in favor of tiie OpunakeElthaui railway. He also considered the new loan for the New Plymouth Harbor Board would be of service to the whole of the coast. Mr Cawkrodger proposed a vote of thanks to Mr Okey and confidence in the Opposi- [ tion. Mr Okey asked that the latter clause b 0 h-ft out. ilr Bicakley seconded the proposition, which was carried unanimously. At the request Of several people in the hall, Mr .Martin, organiser of the Opposition, gave a brief outline Of the _\\z. Political Reform League. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the chairman.

WAREA
At a public meeting on Mondav evening it was decided to cairv tile euchre paritcs on throughout 'the winter months. Messrs William Clarke. Victor JJobinson and William Revel! were added to the committee to run the same. The annual meeting of the Warea übiic Library was held in the librarv on Wednesday evning mst. There was a good attendance of subscribers. Mr MeLachlan was in the chair. The receipts for the year were €lO 2s ,'ldd, and the expenditure ;C7 Us oil, Icavin-' a credit balance of £2 19s lOd. The°sum of tti was spent in new books. i« following officers and committee were elected:-President, Mr James Bur-ess-committee, Messrs William McLaehlan Krnest McDonald, Charles King, Arthur Corbett, Edward Larking, Charles Corbett and illiam Rcvell. Mr T. E. Larking was appointed secretarv. A vote of ihanks was accorded the retiring secretary. Mr Arthur Corbett. j t was decided to open the Librarv on Saturdays and T'uesdavs.
