ANTI-GAMBLING LEGISLATION.
Per Press Association. Wellington, May 3. A meeting convened by the Church Council was held this evening to discuss the formation of a committee to promote legislation against gambling. There was an informal discussion of a series of proposals dealing with the abolition of the totalisator, and prosecutions for gambling. These were approved as a basis of consideration for a citizens' commit tee, which it is proposed to call into existence.
