.As anticipated by us, only three candidates will go to the poll, unless some unheard of Puchmond enters the arena, ill'. S. Smith has definitely decided not to offer himself for election, and Mr. Bell ringer has retired in favor of Mr. E. Dockrill, who will be the Government candidate. _ The starters are therefore Mr. Dockrill (Government), Mr. Malone (Independent Liberal), and Mr. Okey (Opposition). The campaign opens 10-morrow, and particulars of candidates' meetings will be found in the advertising columns.
A fairly large supplementary roll is in course of preparation by the' Registrar of Electors, claims for enrolment olreadv having been lodged. These show that during the past sixteen months a large number of arrivals from various parts of the colony have, come and settled in the town. ,
