Received 2!) th, 11.38 p.m. ~ Melbourne, April 29. the Postmaster-tieneral expresses sympathy with Sir Joseph Ward's proposal to secure a reduction in cable rates to a shilling per word, or even less. The trouble was that the Governments eon* cerned controlled the cable only between \ancouver and Australia, the rest of the lines being privately owned.
