THE LATE BUTCHERS' STRIKES.

,MtiN WON'T PAY UP, Per Press Association. Christehurch, April 29. Trouble in being experienced by the ollicers of the Government in collecting the lines imposed by the Arbitration Court (>u the slaughtermen who went out on strike recently at the Islington and Pareora freezing works. A fair n-unber of the men have paid, but some of then; declined to pay or to make what is con-, sidered a reasonable effort to meet the fines by instalments. Every effort luu been made to have matters satisfactorily settled, but, in a minority of the cases, without avail so far. it is therefore very probable that at the next sitting of the Supreme Court at Timaru and Christehurch the defaulters will be cited to appear before the Court to show cause why a writ of attachment should not be issued ngninst them.
