Mr W. 0. Malone is definitely in the field as an Independent Liberal. Mr llah'iie gives a general support- to the present (lovernment, but is in favor of optional tenure, not opposed, however, to reasonable endowments for specific purposes. A rumor is current that some dissatisfaction exists in the local Liberal ranks, especially amongst Mr S. Smith's supporters, with regard to the method of_ selecting the Liberal candidate. ' A meeting was held in the Town Hall on Saturday with regard to the matter, and it is statsd that a further meeting may be held today. Another rumor, which wo repeat for what it is worth, is that Mr C. Bellringer will not be a candidate ia oppo'j sition to Mr Dockrill.
