EDUCATING THE HOME-LANDER. London, April 24. Mr. W. .!. Ilackett, of West Australia, read a paper before the* Society of Arts dealing with the social economic conditions of Australia. He stated with regard to the Labor parly that calm consideration would go far to discount tin fears held in so nuinv quarters. Mr. Deakin. who ' presided, declared that the British public did imt realise Australia's remarkable relative prosperity, enormous wealth aud inestimable opportunities. Australians themselves had not yet learned to realise their possibilities. Mr. Hughes epioted figures -hewing that whatever its opponents averted the Labor party bad done during the last fifteen years it had not prevented Australia from going ahead.
