Auckland, April 24. At Grey. Lynn six ot the Seven old members of the Council who stood for rc-i.-loct.ion were Ircturued. Tho only mayoral election was that of the city all I lie suburban mayors being returned unopposed. As there are over thirty candidates for fifteen scats on the CltV Council, it will he late he/ore the results are known.
Auckland, April 24. At Devonport six old councillors stooi for re-election, three only bcintf return 0(1.
' , Napier, April 24. The borough council elections to-day created a greater amount of interest than 011 any former occasion, and the poll was a heavy one. For the mayoral contest, Mr .1. Vigor-Brown was return-' ed by a majority of 285 over Mr S. Caruell, tile present mayor. A large crowd of people waited about until 10.05, when the mayoral election was announced, the result being received with great cheering.
Masu'rton, April 24. The following is .the result of the limvoral poll at CartertonW. Moore MOO, A. Armstrong 170. Jlokitika, April 24. The borough elections created greater interest, than had been the ea=e for many years. There was a very large poll, ami at the declaration of the poll ninny hundreds were present, despito most stormy weather, 'ine successful candidates were: JlacAmlrcw, ' Bcare. Breeze, Lloyd, Ooulson, McCirgeor, Hob-ill-oil, Book, and McSiiorrv.
Invercargill, Anril 4. Lively interest was shown in the municipal elections to-day. The results of the mayoral elections were: Invercargill Central—W. B. ScanJrett (re-elected) 1044, J. Stead 550; South Invercargill—A Cushtn 430, (J. R, Hilton 127; East Invercargill— W. Baird 124,, J. A. Mitchell 87. Avenal—J. Ward 87, Hon. 11. IMdwick 40. At
Wilton the mayoral poll resulted: C. 1). Moore 13G, Kennedy U7. Wellington, April 24. Great interest was taken in the polling to-day flor the election of mayor and councillors for the city of Wellington, and crowds gathered in the streets to view the posting up of progress figures. Early in the evening it was clear that Mr Hislop wuold defeat Mr Wilford by a large majority. The victory for Mr Hislop was so assured that the linnl results were taken for granted, and the candidates addressed the electors. The final result was: Illslop r>o.">B, Wilford 2!)li!i.
At Onslow Mr was elected mayor. Masierton, Ami] 24. The election of councillors resulted: Pauling, Elliott, Euinglon, IJaughey, Znrr, Pragnel!, Prentice, Morris ami Temple.
Ciisborne. April 21. Considerable interest was taken in Hie contest ifor the mayoralty,, ehiclly fought out on ihe harbor question. jMr 1). I.ysnar, u strong advocate of t.ie outer harbor, rati against the sitting mayor, Mr J. Ton-nicy. The figures were: Townely 700, Lysuar 030. There were fifteen candidates for the Council, including most of the old councillors. The returns will be laic.
