At a very enthusiastic meeting ul householders at the Franklcy road school district, at its annual meeting last night, it was resolved, "That a deputation wait an the Education Board at its next meeting urging reconsideration of its proposed repairs to the school, pointing out the large increase in the attendance, the inadequate air space compared with the children attending, and the inconvenience of having to leach all standards in one room} aim tile disadvantage to teachers and scholars alike as the result, and Hie unsuitabviity of the school generally for the large increasing numbers, and would urge the Board to postpone the proposed expenditure with a view to providing a new school."
At the South Road Methodist Church on Monday evening a welcome social was tendered to Rev. Keck, who has succeeded Rev. R. F. Williams as second minister in Hie New Plymouth ciicuit of the Methodist Church. Rev. T. 0. Brooke presided, and welcomed the new worker to the circuit. Oilier welcome addresses were given by Mr C. Carter, ciicuit steward; Mr Lilloy, tor local preachers and church workers; Mr C. Morsheatl for the Sunday School; and Mr G. Mclsaacs on behalf of the choir. The new minister acknowledged the welcome. A capital programme was given, soii"S being contributed by Mrs Rich, Miss BlakiC Mr De la flaye, and recitations bv Misses Jessie Mclsaacs and Brokenshire. Refreshments were served, and shortly afterwards a very enjoyable evening's entertainment whs brought to a close, the new niim-tcr having created a very favorable impression.
