Septimus Cooper, a qualified dentist, . was charged with having employed an m.ivgislered person to perform'dental operations'without having been uhd,e* inunediafe supervision. He pleaded, guilty. Inspector Mitchell said that Cooper had employed an unregistered person as canvasser, but had also allowed him to carry on ordinary dental work. He had reason to believe that defendant was ignorant of the law ou this point. The magistrate accepted his explanation and convicted and discharged defendant. There ure several charges against the. aforesaid alleged unregistered person arising o ut of the same ease. These, will be defended when the cases are heard on the 30th iust. Hamilton, April 22. Mr. Massey addressed a large meeting on the Ijind Hill on lines of previous speecries. At the conclusion a motion was carried that the meeting strongly prole.-ts against the proposed land legislation of the present Ciovcrninent, and that no Land Bill will be acceptable which does not provide for optional tenure. ■ ■ .
