COLLISION AT SEA.
NEW ZEALAND SCHOONER RUN DOW IN . BY AN" UNKNOWN" BARQUE. VESSEL TOWED TO PORT. Received 18th, 9.48 p.m. Sydney, April 18. The schooner Whauguroa, from Whangape, was towed in, in a crippled condition to-day, having --ecu in collision during the night with an unknown vessel. It is stated the mishap occurred twenty miles oil' the Heads. A barque had been reported some time before, and while those on the Wliangaroa were looking for her lights, she suddenly came down upoa the Whaugaroa. The lattera crew shouted and blew a whistle warniug the barque to keep off, but no notice was taken. The barque struck the schooner a sliding blow, carrying away the foretopmast and bowsprit, and then swung clear and continued her voyage without even asking if the Whangaroa wanted assistance. The "Whangaroa lay to till morning. The colliding vessel is supposed to be the barque Saint Joseph, from Rio to Newcastle.
