The attendance was below that of the former autumn meetings, and I could not have exceeded 2000. Tile course was in good order, and fair times were registered. The sum of ;Cl2,&':; wavput through the niachines.as against Cl2,f(ill last year. The double, Helen Portland and Lady Annie, paid C 32 ISs. Results:—

. Waiwetii -Handicap: Grand Slam 1, Knrakawa -2, Probable 3. Also ran: \Virral, Royal Blue and Seaman. Wirral and kurawaka ied round the turn into Hie straight, when Grand Slam put in a lute run and won by a length. Time, Jmin ;l(.lsec. Dividends, M~> lfis and .L'2 Ills.
Silver.-lream ll.uk Handicap: Swimming Belt 1, .Moloch-2, Malaari 3. Also started: Metric Rose, Arinameuto, Truthful, Hire, Moala and Gold Guard. A good race to within a furlong from home, when Swimming Belt drew out and won by a length. Time, lmiii 30 2-."i3cc. Dividends, ,C 4 7-s and C2 10s. Thompson Handicap: Helen Portland 1. Mahula 2, Chatterer 3. Also ran: Marguerite, Aeolus, Contender, Submarine, Mystification, St. Joe, The Lark, Pas Sell!, Foutenoy Sherlock Holmes. Helen Portland was in the van throughout, but iu the straight Mahula put in a decided challenge and the pair fought out a desperate finish, Helen Portland gaining the verdict by a bare head. Xortli Island Challenge Stakes: Clenculloch 1, Achilles 2, Downfall 3. Also started, Gold Crest. Harris and Thorpe Imm the decision of the Auckland Metropolitan Club, in the Hierarch ease. The judges are unanimous in accepting the decision of the Auckland ltacing. Club that Hierarch. was pulled in the Nursery Handcap, run at Kllerslie on December 2li, 1 !)(>(!. As to the complicacy of the appellants, Lewis Harris and John Thorpe, the evidence available at the time of hearing by the Metropolitan (iub has been so greatly supported by the subsequent evidence, and the whole surroundings of the case, as to convince the judges that the appellants were parties to the fraud. The appeal is therefore dismissed, and the deposit forfeited. Under the power given in part 3!t, rule (i, of the Rules of ltacing, the judges decided to increase the sentence on the horse Hierarch and on Lewis Harris and John Thorpe from disoaialilication for six months to disipialilication for life. With regard to the jockey, Speakman, he was not an appellant, and his' ease ciuin.il be dealt with, but the judges direct tin attention of the committees of the Auckland and oilier Metropolitan clubs to the i|uesiiun whether a liceuse to ride should be issued to Spcakinan after his sentence of disqualification has expired. During the hearing it was admitted by the appellants and not disputed, that Adolphus Montgomery, of Kiirangalmki, and l.iniUiv Cook, of Auckland, were partners i>i 'llie hors-.-s Hierarch and Canrobcrt. which partnership had not been r.-Wicved as required by the rules.
