There are two aspirants for the Mayor's chair (Messrs. l,ouilon ami (lore), ami thirty-four candidates for the City Council, which consists of eighteen members. Several suburban .Mayors were elected j unopposed.

IIAWKHA. Messrs. 10. L. Barton aiiil B. C. Hobbins have been nominated for the Mayoralty. There are ten nominations for the Council for the nine, scats available. The candidates arc as follow: ff. Temple Atkinson, Joseph Boyd, John > Brunette, John Cninpbell, James Poy, "* Thomas J. Huvrell, Kihvard Morrisaey, Ernest A. Paeey, Hough K. Whittington, and Percy 11. Wilkinson.
IXGLEWOOD. Tnglewood is to havo n Mayoral contest. Messrs. Harold Thomson, formerly of Xew Plymouth, and H. 11. Curtis, have been deputationised by the burgesses, and have liceii duly' nominated for the position. Messrs. (J. W. Bennett, V. 11. Brown, F. W. Cone, H. Mavnc, 1). H, McDonald, A. E. Surrey, II." W. Tavplec, ,]. \y, winfleld, and G. Young have been nominated for six seats on the Horough Council.
