The mutton market is quiet, with slightly better demand at reduced price. The average price of Canterbury mutton is 3%d; Australian, 3%d; River Plate, 3%d. There is good demand for all lamb, and a better tone was experienced this week. Supplies fall short of demand as far as light-weights are concerned, which avorage s'/ 2 d. Canterbury heavy-weight* arc quoted at 5%A, and 5d is 'asked tot similar weights in other than Canterbury brands. There is lietlcr demand for beef, owing to short supplies of chilled shipments. New Zealand beef is quoted at 3%d And 3%d for hind and fore quarters respeulively. The butter market is dull, and price* are declining. Buyers are holding back expecting prices to lower. Some holder* are forcing sales, thero being heavy supplies on hand. Choice New Zealand is quoted at 118s, Australian at 05s, Danish 105s. Supplies are increasing from Siberia. The butter of that country is quoted at Ms. The cheese market is quiet, with a tendency in favor of buyers, but good business has been done at 83s. The hemp market ia dull, and only poor business has been done. Now Zealand good fair grade, on spot, if. worlli ti34 10s; April-June shipment*, £34 per ton; fair current Manila is quoted at £3B. There is no alteration in the cocksfoot seed market since last .report, The wool market remains firm, ~;
