LORD CROMER RESIGNS. Loudon. April 11. Ear! Cromer has resigned on the ground of ill-health. Sir Edward Grey, Fori-ign Secretary j states that the present policy in Egypt will he continued. The newspapers unaniuiouslv express gratitude and admiration for Lord Cromer's service, and sincere regret at his retirement. RESIGNATION KEENLY REGRETTED A POPULAR SUCCESSOR. Received 12th, 11.15 p.m. London, April 12. Lord Cromer's resignation, which was especially owing to failing health, is keenly regretted on even' side. Sir E. Gorsf's appointment was recommended by Lord Cromer, and meets with' the fullest approbation in British circles in Egypt. [Sir Eldon Gorst, K.C.8., was bom in New Zealand iu 18lil, and is a son of the Right Hon. Sir John Gorst, who recently revisited New Zealand after an absence of forty years as British Commissioner to the Exhibition.]
