Mr. Elwood Mead, chief engineer of the Irrigation Department at .Washington, has been appointed chairman of the Victorian Rivers and Waters Supply Commission at a salary of £I2OO per annum. "" Sydney, April 4. Mr. Johnson, the new Chief Railway Commissioner, has arrived. The appointment of the new Commissioner is gazetted to take office to-day.
