ROUMANIAN REVOLUTION.

Bucharest, March 23. The revolt in Roumania is spreading northward and westward, and is characterised as the same scene of arson, pillage, and wholesale destruction. Several landed proprietors lost f£40,000. Estates in the provinces of Brancovan and Stirbei were devastated. Rushuk, Sistova, and Nikopol arc full : of refugees. The troops killed 250 peasants at Mazazi.

Bands of plunderers are concentrated at Vicruodivaia and Stapeshi. They resisted until artillery destroyed the villages. Artillery dispersed a band advancing on Gimbatz, killing and wounding many. The state of Wallaehia is very serious. Tranquility has been almost restored in Moldavia.

Austrian troops are concentrating on the frontier to prevent a movement in the direction of crossing the border. A thousand rebels attacked an infantry regiment at Brugardia. Half the soldiers refused to fire, and when the order was repeated killed the Colonel and joined the rebels. A sharp encounter between loyalists, deserters, and peasants resulted in 200 being killed. Eventually the rebels retired. The rebels treated the rich ferociously. A wounded landlord begged for "a priest, but the rebel leader stabbed him with a knife, shouting: "There's absolution!" The followers, with axes, then hacked off his arms and legs, while others danced.

Disturbances still occur in Wallaehia. A severe encounter ocucrred at Langapatuelele. The troops killed a number of peasants. One hundred and twenty thousand troops arc under anus. Large detachments guard the banks in Bucharest.
