EXPLOSION OF DYNAMITE
FIFTY-FOUR MEN KILLED. RESULT OF XATIVE CURIOSITY. Pretoria. March 30. A serious explosion of dynamite occurred yesterday at the Driofontein Consolidated Mine, on the Rand. The men employed in the mine were being mustered when two eases of dynamite exploded, with terrilic force. Four whites and fifty natives were killed, and three whites and sixteen natives injured. It is surmised that the explosion was caused through some natives tampering with the dynamite.
