BARONESS AS A SPY.

QUITE AT HOME IN THE EMPEROR'S PALACE. Vienna, January 2">. The Baroness Schoenbcrger, the Hungarian beauty who was used by M. IV lonyi, the Hungarian Minister for Justice, to spy on the Emperor Francis Joseph to find out his views on Hungarian affairs, has created a sensation by interviews which she ha* given to Budapest newspapers. Who claims to have, brought about the famous audience of M. Kosuth with tjlie Emperor, ending in the constitutional struggle between Hungarians and the Crown. She says: "At. this time I was as much at home in the Emperor's palace as in my house. My real protector at Court was the Lord Chamberlain, Prince Liechtenstein, and not Count Pnnr, whose name was given to spare the Chamberlain." The Baroness declares that in spite of the great political services which she rendered and the expense to which she was. put, which nearly ruined her, the Hungarian politicians never paid her the money which they promised her. The Viennese newspapers have spoken slighting ly of tire personal charms of the Baroness, who travelled from Budapest last night anil presented herself at their offices to prove that they had been misinformed, and also at Ihe same lime to satisfy them that she was really familial' with prominent, members of the Court—a fact on which doubt had been cast.

The Baroness has a varied past. After being barmaid, actress, and professional beauty, she married Baron Schoenherger, a Hungarian ex-officer, for his title. The Baron, after being dismissed from the army, became a cabman at Budapest. It seems certain that M. Polonyi will bo forced to resign as soon as he has filed the action for libel against Herr Lengyel, who published the disclosures. The Hungarian Premier will arrive in Vienna to-morrow 'to report on the matter to the Emperor.
