Shortly after three.o'clock this afternoon a most cowardly assault is alleged to have been perpetrated bv a man named Thornley on John Bridgman, a hiHiicinl agent. Bridgman was talking lo Detective Bishop at the corner of Hereford and Rolombo streets, when Thornley came up and insulted him. Ilridgmaii retaliated with his fists. Thornley then knocked him down, hitting him a terrible blow on the face, cuumg open his cheek. Tliornley was arrested ;U id taken to the police station. SIA-fUiOU IX THE EXHIBITION.
