The annual meeting of tin Taranaki Society is to be held 10-mon y evening, ami it should only In- lieees j\- to reIresh the memories of the numerous members to ensure a very large attendsince. The society, at the present lime, thanks to the splendid efforts of the secretary it ml ollicials, is in especial favor "with the farmers of the district, and the policy that has produced that favor and support, must not be allowed to lag. Tiic society's show, also. now deservedly ranks high above its position I of a few years ago, hut, unfortunately, can never take its place as the leading provincial agricultural exhibition until permanent, instead of makeshift, li>:tures, have been secured. New grounds and buildings are by no means unattainable, and a continuance of tin* enthusiasm that has marked the past two years of the society's existence will speedily bring these essential requirements into being. In addition to the foregoing subject, the question of the New Zealand "Times" Company's UIOO fanning competition is to l»e considered at the annual meeting, and an interesting discussion is looked forward to. Another matter for consideration is the question of a trip of members of the society to the. Momohaki experimental farm. It is already on the cards that a big party intends visiting the farm.
