PROVINCIAL NEWS

(From Our Own Corerspondents.) STRATFORD. Several properties have changed hands lately. Messrs. McLaughlin Bros., of Lowgarth, have sold their nice farm to Mr. J. l'hillips, of Mangatoki. Mr. F. Johnston, I am informed, has also sold his farm, and intends going to the. Argentine. These settlers have shown the district an example in the way of improvements oil their farms, and thus no doubt have made an easy market. Mr. McLaughlin tells me his farm was only in the agents' hands live hours when it went. Messrs. Duncan and Slatterv, ot Whangamomana, 1 am told, have also disposed of their properties, and at present are staying in town.
