Mr. Austin Chamberlain, speaking at Addington, described the Unionist Free Trade Club as a mere stage army, having leaders but no followers. It was time those responsible for the club should ask themselves whether they Htill desired to be associated with the | Unionist partv. Was it fair thai men should stay in the party simply in ordci to oppose its policy, and from withm tli-' ranks accuse the majority, and introdi.anarchy and confusion. LAND REFORM MEASURE. THE GOVERNMENTS INTENTION. Received 20th, 11.54 p.m. London, March 2C. Sir H. Campbell-Banerman, in a letter to Mr H. Walter, a Commoner, said the Government would do their utmost to press forward small holdings and rural housing, two indispensible reforms, also the Scottish Land. Bill, which ought to have a far-reaching effect in checking the exodus from the land. It was almost too much, however, to expect tl.e land system of England, Scotland and Wales to he reformed in a single session. Moreover, there were indications that there would _be a severe struggle on these questions in hoth Houses. THE BUDGET. Received 26th, 11.54 p.m. London, March 2G. Mr. Asquith brings down his Budget on the 18th April. r
