CHINESE LABOUR. Pretoria, March 22. The indentures of 407 Chinese on the Rand expire at the end of June and the remainder in August. Mr Botha contemplates a two million loan for the Land Bank as soon as convenient. In the Transvaal Assembly C.iieral Beyer*, whose racial partisanship is notorious, promised, speaking in English, to follow the best Parliamentary traditions of the Motherland colony at Ihe i Cape.

In tl.e Transvaal Assembly Mr. Smuts said he considered the proposed commission of in p.li'v into the labor qise.-tion would likely lead to procrastination, which he believed was the object of tile Opposition. The statement was received with angry protests. Mr. Smuts added that the Government would afford the mines the promptest and most effective help. They intended to tackle the question, and hoped to have a definite policy ready by June. The Legislative Council passed the Asiatic Registration Bill. Lord Selborne reserved the Act for the King's approval. The Legislature adjourned till June.
