Stolypin, the Russian Premier, created the profoundest sensation in the Don ma by accepting a resolution from M. Uuditchell', of the Constitutional Democracy, for the appointment of a committee of investigation and audit of the famine fund. This w;'s adopted by a large majority against ail amendment, by the Social Democrats, which proposed to send delegates to the villages to take charge of relief; in reality to foment strife.
AN ASSURANCE TO THE POWKUS. GOVERNMENT PROMISE TO COOPERATE WITH DOI'MA. REACTIONARIES ORGANISING OPPOSITION. Received 24th, 4.43 p.m. London, March 23. Reutcr reports that M. Stolypin told the Powers he was determined to cooperate with the Douma to secure peace. This led to a resumption of the negotiations with Britain which were interrupted in October. The Reactionaries, who form the majority of the Council of the Empire, are organising a systematic opposition to the Government. NOTED REACTIONARY DEAD. Received 25th, 1.3 a.m. London, March 2-3. M.
