By this evening's express the Besses :>" til' Barn Band arrive-;. It immediately afterwards opens tiie iirst of its three performances here at the Theatre Koyal the concert commencing at S.ISO p.m. The coming of these celebrated players has aroused considerable excitement Hi and around the district, and a season of t tie boom order is sure to result, Taranaki being essentially a band centre. A very attractive programme is to bo given this evening under thai celebrated conductor, Mr Alex. Owen, the opening number being a march specially composed l>y Mr Owen and dedicated to N.Z. bandsmen, entitled, "/oalaudia." Other items will be selected from the following:—"l'oet and feasant," overture (Kuupe); cornet solo, "Cleopatra" (IXniiire), by Mr T. ti. Moore; selection, ••Kossni's Works," arranged by Mr Uwcu; fantasia on English airs '(Jackson); waltz, "Marguerite," (Godfrey); soled ion, "Pirates of Penzance' (.Sullivan); selection, "Songs of Scotland" (Keloid). To-morrow afternoon at the lioeroation Grounds a grand open-air performance is to be given, when the prices of admission wdl be Is to the ground and Is Gd extra for the seating enclosure. The fondest holies of all true lovers of good music has been realise,! in learning (hat (hose brilliant musicians are to play in the open, and the directors expect an enormous gathering to-morrow afternoon. The Hawera train has been delayed until 5.15 p.m. to -morrow. Box plans for (he evening performance n't the Theatre are at the Dresden, where seats may be reserved today. The day sale tickets for all concerts are at Averv's.
