Africa hare recently given much trouble, and a punitive expedition, comprising upwards of two companies of infantrv was despatched against them iu the presence of Captain Booth, as political Officer in Tioniu. The infantry, showing smart work, closed up the enemies water holes, and then gradually stormed the ■ Tilmk's stronghold, consisting of piled-up boulders iu crevices and caves in which the enemy were concealed.
The infantry, who wore, padded coats and blankets, were constantly harrassed In" discharges of poisoned arrows. "The Tibuk's casualties totalled 300. On the British side Lieutenants Clayton and Thompson were wounded, eleven infantry men were killed, and forty woundeu.
