■ 1 LONDON WOOL SALES. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington I have received the following cable mes- 1 sage from their London house, dated the 12th inst.:—"Wool sales opened with a fair seleetjpn. There is a •arge attendance of buyers and competition is animated. Clips offered so iar mostly crossbreds. Merino wools, are on the average at par to %d higher .urn closng rates of January series, i-ine- crossbred wools, on a par with ist series closing rates. Medium and coarse crossbred wools, at par to 5 .- cent higher, ADDINGTON MARKETS.

Chri.-tchurch, Marcli 13. At Addington l.ve stock market today there was a large entry of stock and a numerous attendance. Store sheep were not so saleable, and prices hardly so firm for rough sorts. Most of the fat lambs only brought forward store prices. Fat sheep sold up to late rates till towards the end of the sale, when old ewes were easier. Beef sold at about late rates, and p'gs of all classes were easier. There was a poor sale for store cattle, but good dairy cows were in fair demand. There was a large mixed yarding of store ■sheep, and there was a large number of buyers present. Bidding was ra- . tlier slow, and good lines sold up to late rates, while rough sorts were sonii what neglected. Lambs were not selling quite so well as during the last week or two. The entry of fat lambs was larger than for several weeks, and there was a fair proportion of prime lots. Graziers were the principal buy ! ers, and most of the sales were made at much below freezers' values.

Prime lambs made 14/6 to 17/0, medium 12/ to 14/, ami lighter 9/ to 11/fi. There was a fairly large yarding of fat sheep, including a fair proportion of wethers. There was practically no change in values until towards the end of thes ale, when butchers' requirements were pretty well satisfied. The range of prices was— Prime wethers 19/7 to 22/, others 15/1 to 18/3, prime ewes 15/ to 19/0, medium 12/6 to 14/0, aged 9/ to 12/. The entry of fat cattle totalled 242, a large proportion being more or less rough sorts. - A few extra prime lots sold at an advance, but ordinary beef made about late rates. .Steers brought £5 17/0 to £9, heifers .€5 2/0 to .to , r >/, cows £4 7/0 to £7 7/0 (equal to 20/0 for a few extra prime, and 22f to 23/0 for medium, down to 19/ to 21/ per 100 ft). Veal calves made 4/ to £2 5/, according to «'ze and finality. Only a few odd lots of store cattle were yarded, (iood daily row.were in demand, and fold up to C 8 10/. . There was a large entry of pigs, naconera being hardly so linn, and porkers and stores much eas er. Baconers made 40/ to 45/ for light, and 47/ to.
