Rev. T. G. Brooke is expected to re t'iru to New Plymouth to-night. Ihe Rev. W. ColVey, of Wellington, who suffered a stroko of paralysis some time back, is said to be sinking. Mr E. Griffiths returned last night from a trip to Wellington, whither he had been on a short trip to see his father, who starts almost immediately on a nine months' trip to England. Mr W, Gray, secretary to the Post and Telegraph Department, who has been seriously ill for some time, is now in a very serious condition, and causing his friends extreme anxiety. The Inglewood and Midhirsl friends of Mr George McDonald, will regret to learn of his death, which took place at the New Plymouth Hospital last evening. Deceased, who held a responsible position iu the Midhirst dairy factory, had been suffering from a strain of the heart, and though of robust constitution and having the best medical attention, the trouble grew worse, and was responsible for his death. Much sympathy is felt for his' father, Mr D. McDonald, of Inglewood, who in the space of a month has losd his wife and only sou. ,We regret to hear that Mr E. If. Smith, M..1-1.K., is laid up with a serious illness. Mr Justice Button was sworn in as , a judge of the Supreme Court by Mr . Justice Cooper yesterday, and left dm-- . ing the afternoon to preside at the Blenheim sittings of the Supreme
