At the recent opening of the Bible Society's new premises in Johannesburg, by the Earl of Selbornc, High Commissioner for Soutli Africa, His I'.xeelienev said: "I liave no argument to address to you on the subject ol the. work of the British and l oreign P,ib|t' Sneicty, because it seems me that it tli,' one subject about which there can be no argument among Christians. Other causes require argument; some of them require much argument in order to secure commendation; hut 'this work of distributing the Word of God, in every possible language among all races and in all climes, surely is a worE oil which there can be no argument among Christians, In the course of ages we Christians have unfortunately developed a great faculty for differing in opinion. We differ as to the particular forms of Caureh Government; and these difTerances of opinion have crystallised into what we call the different Churches, But on this one point—the dissemination of the Holy Scriptures—we are absolutely mi it e l', because there can I be no possibility of duubt as to our duty."
