PARIS' DARKNESS DISPELLED
TflE STRIKERS OVERAWED. A NOVELTY FOR THE PARISIANS. Received XX S 9-43 a.m. Pabis, March. 11. The public's indignation, combined with M. Clemenceaus threat to light Paris with the aid of the military, overawed the strikers. The city, under darkness, presented many amazing scenes. Parisians enjoyed the fun until the losses, ihconreniences and danger became acute. Many ingenious devices were resorted to to obtain light. Steam engines, automobile and motors were utilised in the streets to generate power. , . Candles sold like confetti at carnival time. The strike caught the companies and the public quite unprepared.
