AUSTRALIAN MAIL CONTRACT
THINGS LOOKING PROMISING. Melbourne, March 9. The representatives of the Mail Syndicate have obtained promises aggregating several hundred thousand pounds from prominent Victorian investors to buy debentures. It is reported that the Syndicate will probably tender for a line ot fast steamers between Canada and Australia via New Zealand, tor which they have heard tenders are likely to be called by the Canadian, Commonwealth, and New Zealand Governments.
